The Sweetest Thing
>> August 3, 2009
A funny, sweet comedy about two best friends who set out on a roadtrip to find Mr. Right. "The Sweetest Thing" is a sweet, funny movie that will be sure to make you have a good time. While the story isn't intricate or intellectual, it will entertain you from start to finish. The outrageous situations that Cameron Diaz and Christina Applegate find themselves stuck in will make you burst with laughter. This is the perfect flick for you and your best bud to enjoy.
Directed by Roger Kumble, this film tells the story of two best friends, Christina and Courtney, who have always lived on the edge. They go out and party as much as they can, without thinking about finding "the right guy." However, when they go out clubbing one night, Christina meets Peter. However, Christina misses her chance with Peter that night. The next day when she regrets her decision not to pursue Peter, she and her gal pal Courtney decide to go half way across the country to find him, only to discover something shocking. This film stars Cameron Diaz as Christina Walter, Christina Applegate as Courtney Rockcliffe, Selma Blair as Jane Burns and Thomas Jane as Peter Donahue. Also featured throughout the film are Frank Grillo, Jason Bateman, Eddie McClintock, Lillian Adams, Johnny Messner and Sybil Temtchine. Cameron Diaz and Christina Applegate have such great chemistry on screen that you would think they've actually been best friends for years. What separates this rom-com from others is that it strays away from indulging in the sappy, weepy dialogue. Instead, this film chooses to surprise its audience with crude, sexual jokes.
You won't find brilliant cinematography or even an outstanding storyline. However, this is the perfect film for you and your gal pals if you're looking to kick back, laugh and just enjoy yourself.
